Summer is drawing to a close. PFLAG Portland is featuring two events you’ll not want to miss.

Books, Brews, and Bucks

PFLAG Portland is collaborating with multiple organizations and queer-owned businesses to present an LGBTQ+ book reading, along with a midday meal and happy hour to follow.Proceeds from book sales will go to benefit our chapter.

When and where: Sunday, Aug. 17, at BDSM Brewing Co., 516 S 1st Ave. Hillsboro. Program from 1-2:30 pm. Stay for happy hour and conversation from 2:30-5 pm. (BDSM is a queer-owned craft brewery offering “The Beating Your Mouth Deserves.” https://bdsmbrewing.com/)

Our partners: Our Bold Voices, Westside Queer Resource Center, City of Hillsboro. Also: Catering by David Fryman of Butch & Nellie’s Meals on Heels.

What you can expectDefiant Moments storytelling at 1pm. A handful of LGBTQ+ authors and allies will read the personal essays they contributed to this stirring anthology published earlier this year by Our Bold Voices. Stick around to meet the authors and chat with PFLAG friends.

How this came about: Paul Iarrobino is the publisher-editor-writer behind the essay collection Defiant Moments and its predecessor Defiant Voices. We had two authors read at our April chapter meeting, and Paul reached out to us to pitch another reading in Hillsboro to benefit PFLAG.

What you can (and should) do now: RSVP to info@pflagpdx.org so we’ll know you’re coming. Share this information with friends and family so we can fill the room.
